The Texan 3-Step

We are so excited that you have decided to join the Tarleton State family! Through our Texan 3-Step process, we hope to make your transition into Tarleton and college life as smooth as possible.

Texan Orientation

All first-time freshman students and new transfer students with less than 12 transferable hours will need to attend Texan Orientation prior to registering for courses. Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirements must be met prior to receiving an invitation.

To register for Texan Orientation, you will use the online registration link contained in an invitation sent to the email address with which you applied to the University. All students who have been admitted for Fall 2019 who are eligible and required to attend registration day will receive an email beginning January 2019. If you need the email resent, or want to inquire as to why you have not yet received the invitation, please call 254-918-7683 or email asi@tarleton.edu so we can assist you.

Duck Camp

Duck Camp is a 3-day, 2-night experience for incoming freshmen that is designed to ease the transition from high school into college. At Duck Camp, students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Tarleton’s rich history and traditions while bonding with fellow incoming and current students.

View the calendar of Duck Camp events for more details.

Contact the Duck Camp Office for more information.

Transition Week

Transition Week 2019

Transition Week (T-Week) begins with First Year Move-In and continues through the first day of class. T-Week is intended to help students with a successful transition into the academic and campus community here at Tarleton. During Transition Week, students will have the opportunity to:

  • Acclimate to campus and learn about resources
  • Bond with the incoming class of 2023
  • Learn about ways to get involved on campus
  • Attend a variety of fun, evening activities
  • Connect with faculty and staff

and so much more!

Transition Week is mandatory for all new incoming freshmen and transfer students with less than 12 credit hours (regardless of how many dual-credit hours you have).

Program Outcomes for Texan Orientation and Family Programs

  • Our program offers programs, events, and services which facilitate new student connections with other incoming students, current Tarleton students, faculty, and staff.
  • It's designed to encourage opportunities for engagement which identifies and eases issues related to new student transitions.
  • Serves as a platform to all incoming students through which to identify and initiate a personalized system of support.
