Admission Guidelines

Step #1: Apply for Admission to the University
Are you entering as a Freshman?
Are you a current student?
Set up an appointment with Academic Advising every semester.
Are you a transfer student?
Set up an appointment with an Academic Advisor as a “prospective student” and apply to the University.
Step #2: Meet Criteria that is required to apply
To be eligible for admission to the Traditional BSN degree path, students must meet the admission criteria. For information on Admission Criteria, please refer to the Traditional BSN Program Guide.
Do I need to meet with an advisor? FAQ
- Advisor- To make an advising appointment please visit the Academic Advising Website.
- Create a secondary plan if not accepted.
- Consider working on a minor if not accepted into program the first time.

Deadline for Application:
- The Spring 2024 application deadline is 11:59 PM CST on November 1, 2023.
- The BSN Application can only be accessed by current TSU students through myGateway.

Step #3: Apply to the School of Nursing
- Applicants to the BSN program must be excepted to Tarleton State University for Spring 2024 admissions by November 1, 2023.
- All applicants must complete all pre-requisite courses and other requirements before consideration for admission into the program.
- Admission numbers to the traditional undergraduate nursing program (BSN) may be limited based on School of Nursing resources, including but not limited to the availability of qualified faculty and clinical resources.
- Applications can only be accessed by current TSU students through myGateway.
Application Materials
- Completed HESI A2 in required testing areas (send to Undergraduate Admissions)
- Electronic Copy of Fee Payment Receipt (upload with electronic application)
FAQs
When will I be notified of my acceptance? Student applying for the spring will be notified late December. Students applying for the fall will be notified in June.
How do I reapply into the program if I was not accepted previously? You will reapply.
Where can I take my HESI A2? Stephenville Campus Testing Center. Testing Center
What sections of the HESI A2 do I need to take? English (reading, grammar, and vocabulary), Math, A&P. Students must make a cumulative score of 80% or better.
