STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Tarleton State University\u2019s Wind Ensemble recently released a professionally recorded album, \u201cDeep Reverberations,\u201d through the VOCE label that is available on major music streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m quite proud of the Wind Ensemble for their work on this project,\u201d said Dr. David Robinson, the group\u2019s director. \u201cThe success of this product was the result of both a ton of preparation by everyone involved and a commitment to a high level of focus in the recording session itself. The process challenged all of us artistically in ways that made us all better musicians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The title was inspired by one of the album\u2019s six selections, \u201cA deep reverberation fills with stars,\u201d by John Mackey. Other pieces include \u201cClutch,\u201d by David Perkins; Florence Price\u2019s \u201cAdoration;\u201d \u201c<\/em>Danzas,\u201d <\/em>by Giovanni Santos; \u201c<\/em>Deir\u2019 in De,\u201d <\/em>by Warren Barker; and Scott McAllister\u2019s \u201cXanadu.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The musical selections were chosen to exhibit a wide variety of composers and styles, allowing the musicians to showcase their versatility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDeep Reverberations\u201d was recorded in November 2024 in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Auditorium and edited by Dr. Robinson and VOCE Recordings\u2019 Dr. Vince Kenney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe motivation behind this album was to respond to our university\u2019s initiative for a higher level of scholarship output from us as a faculty,\u201d said Dr. Robinson. \u201cFor us who teach in the music field, especially with me as a conductor, this is the sort of project that fits that bill.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The album was mostly self-funded through concert ticket sales over the past few years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Wind Ensemble consists of 40 to 50 undergraduate students selected annually by audition.
