Tarleton State University has named Dr. Barry D. Lambert as its new Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, effective immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Lambert has served in the role on an interim basis since October 2025, providing steady leadership and advancing key academic initiatives across the university. As provost, he will oversee all academic programs, faculty affairs and student success initiatives, continuing to advance Tarleton State\u2019s mission as a comprehensive, student-focused institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDr. Lambert has demonstrated a clear vision for Academic Affairs and a deep commitment to student success, faculty excellence and institutional growth,\u201d said Tarleton State President Dr. James Hurley. \u201cHe understands Tarleton State at every level, and his leadership will be critical as we continue to elevate our academic profile and advance toward Carnegie R1 status.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his time as interim provost, Dr. Lambert enhanced communication across Academic Affairs, supported faculty-led initiatives and helped guide implementation of the university\u2019s academic vision. He also worked closely with university leadership to ensure alignment with system priorities and regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Lambert previously served as Associate Provost and Associate Vice President for Student Retention and Persistence, where he led strategic initiatives to improve student success and career readiness. He also served as Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, where he oversaw sustained enrollment growth and helped launch the university\u2019s first STEM-based doctoral program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTarleton State is a special place, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this university and its people,\u201d said Dr. Lambert, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. \u201cI look forward to working alongside our faculty, staff and leadership to support student achievement, strengthen academic programs and build on the momentum we have created together.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Lambert holds a Ph.D. in Animal Science from Kansas State University, as well as a Master of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Tarleton State University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
