PBS’s “The Daytripper, featuring Chet Garner, will highlight Palo Pinto Mountains State Park in the Saturday, May 23 episode. Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Museum and Research Center will host a watch party<\/em>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Tarleton State University\u2019s W.K. Gordon Museum and Research Center in Thurber is hosting a watch party for an episode of the PBS series \u201cThe Daytripper\u201d featuring the recently opened Palo Pinto Mountains State Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The free event, set for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23, highlights the nearby park, North Texas\u2019 first new state park in a quarter century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A decade in the making, the park <\/strong>opened in March. The rugged, rolling terrain of the Palo Pinto Mountains offers opportunities for outdoor activities including hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing and kayaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Daytripper\u201d is a Texas travel program hosted by Chet Garner. The show is a 19-time Lone Star Emmy Award winner that highlights the culture, outdoors and food of a single destination in each episode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The W.K. Gordon Center is located at 65258 Interstate 20, Exit 367, in Mingus and is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays and 1-4 p.m. Sundays.
