FORT WORTH, Texas \u2014 Tarleton State University has released a new Tarleton State Fort Worth Master Plan, a bold and comprehensive vision that will guide the continued growth and development of the university\u2019s Fort Worth campus over the next two decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panelists Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker, District 6 Councilwoman Dr. Mia Hall, and Fort Worth City Manager Jay Chapa discussed opportunity, growth and challenges facing the higher education industry with Tarleton State President Dr. James Hurley.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The enhanced master plan outlines a strategic framework for expanding academic programs, student life, research opportunities and community engagement on Tarleton State Fort Worth\u2019s 80-acre campus located along Chisholm Trail Parkway. The framework positions the university to meet the workforce and educational needs across one of the nation\u2019s fastest-growing regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur updated Fort Worth Master Plan represents a bold and strategic vision for our future,\u201d said Tarleton State President Dr. James Hurley. \u201cThis inspired blueprint will drive our growth and strengthen our commitment to advancing discovery, empowering innovation and fostering service in the community. Meeting workforce demands in a rapidly growing region is critical for long-term prosperity, and this plan positions Tarleton State to impact generations of students and the communities we serve for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plan serves as a roadmap for campus development that aligns with the institutional mission and long-term strategic goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe updated Fort Worth Master Plan reflects Tarleton State\u2019s deep and growing commitment to this community and the students we serve,\u201d said Dr. Rachael Capua, Vice President of External Operations and Dean of Tarleton State Fort Worth. \u201cAs Fort Worth continues to grow, our campus is evolving alongside it, creating expanded opportunities for students, strengthening workforce partnerships and building a vibrant university environment that serves learners, employers, and the region for generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since its 1978 beginning in Fort Worth with eight students, Tarleton State\u2019s presence has grown significantly. Today, nearly 2,600 students are enrolled across more than 60 academic programs, with enrollment projected to exceed 10,000 students by the end of the Master Plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The refreshed Tarleton State Fort Worth Master Plan outlines phased development that will transform the campus into a vibrant, comprehensive university environment featuring:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Expanded academic facilities supporting program growth and innovation<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 A centralized student center with dining and collaboration spaces<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 On-campus student housing integrated with mixed-use development<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 A welcome and alumni center serving as the campus gateway<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Recreation facilities and multipurpose fields<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Enhanced green spaces, pedestrian connectivity and campus identity features<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Infrastructure designed for sustainable, long-term expansion<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plan emphasizes walkability, community integration and sustainable design while reinforcing Tarleton State\u2019s identity and traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located in Tarrant County, one of Texas\u2019 most dynamic economic regions, Tarleton State Fort Worth plays a critical role in preparing graduates for high-demand careers in health sciences, education, business, technology and emerging industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through partnerships with community colleges, school districts, healthcare providers and regional employers, Tarleton State continues to expand access to higher education while strengthening workforce pipelines across North Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tarleton State Fort Worth Master Plan also aligns with Tarleton State Forward 2030: Our Future-Focused Strategic Plan<\/em>, supporting goals related to student success, academic distinction, research innovation and institutional prominence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The updated master plan was developed through a collaborative planning process that included extensive stakeholder engagement, data-informed analysis and multiple rounds of review. Tarleton State partnered with national higher education planning firm Broaddus and engineering and design partner Dunaway to support campus planning, infrastructure analysis, and long-range development strategies. Additional renderings and support were provided by Fort Worth-based firm, Bennett Partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As implementation progresses in phases, the campus will continue evolving into a destination for transformational education, research and community connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
