STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 The Tarleton State University Corps of Cadets has announced its latest leadership appointees in the Change of Command ceremony held at the O.A. Grant Humanities Amphitheater today at 5 p.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The change of command ceremony is a defining moment for the Texan Corps of Cadets,” said Col. Douglas L. Simon, Commandant of Cadets and Dean of the College of Leadership and Military Studies. “Those selected to serve as the Corps Commander are considered to be the very best to lead and advance the Texan Corps of Cadet’s mission to achieve greatness.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cadet Brandon Kelly of Weatherford assumed the Corps commander role previously held by Cadet Carter McKay. Cadet Kelly, a junior leadership and strategic studies major, aims to advance the Corps of Cadets and provide a model of Corps values. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I am honored to take command of the Texan Corps of Cadets and give everything I have to lead through respect, integrity and humility,\u201d said Cadet Kelly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ceremony saw three cadets inducted into leadership roles. In addition to Cadet Kelly, Cadet Samuel Cardenas, a junior psychology major, assumed the role of deputy corps commander. Cadet Tristan Heimann, a sophomore business administration major, joined the leadership team as command sergeant major. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The appointment of each cadet follows a thorough application process that includes a panel interview of peers and staff. Evaluating academic performance, Corps activities and prior leadership, the panel carefully considers each applicant\u2019s past contributions and proposed vision for the Corps\u2019 future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are incredibly grateful to Cadet Carter McKay for his exemplary service to the Texan Corps, and we are equally grateful to Cadet Brandon Kelly as he assumes command,\u201d said Col. Simon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Established in 1917, the Texan Corps of Cadets embodies values of national service and prepares cadets for success in the private and public sector.
