STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014Tarleton State University will honor its rich history and vibrant Texan spirit during John T\u2019s Week, set for April 10-19, with a full slate of events for students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to enjoy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Formerly known as Founders Week, John T\u2019s Week commemorates the university’s founder, John Tarleton, and reflects a renewed emphasis on the institution\u2019s roots while continuing several long-standing traditions. The name change underscores the university\u2019s commitment to celebrating its heritage and the legacy of the man whose vision helped shape Tarleton State. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The week will include cherished events such as the Purple and White Tailgate and Game, May Fete, Oscar P\u2019s Birthday Bash, several Ring Ceremonies, athletic matchups across multiple sports as well as activities at Tarleton State\u2019s extended campuses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the most meaningful traditions of the week, Silver Taps, will be observed on Tuesday at 7 p.m. This ceremony honors Tarleton State students, faculty, staff and alumni who have passed away during the past year with a candle lighting tribute. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additional highlights throughout John T\u2019s Week include the GlowRun 5K, Military Appreciation Brunch, Texan Wing Challenge, Tarleton State Stampede, The Purple Tractor Farmers Market and 2nd Annual BBQ Cook-Off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
