STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 The Division of Health Sciences at Tarleton State University has implemented an internal reorganization elevating its academic schools to colleges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The division now operates under a college-based model that includes the College of Nursing, College of Kinesiology and Sport Science, and College of Health and Clinical Professions. The updated structure strengthens academic identity, enhances collaboration across disciplines and positions the division to support expanding academic, clinical and research initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis reorganization increases our ability to meet one of Texas\u2019 most critical needs, access to quality healthcare, especially in rural communities,\u201d said Tarleton State President Dr. James Hurley. \u201cBy elevating these programs to colleges, we are expanding our capacity to educate highly trained professionals who will serve where they are needed most.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The elevation to academic colleges advances Tarleton State\u2019s efforts to prepare health care professionals through whole-person care, interdisciplinary learning and workforce readiness, including interprofessional educational support for the proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine (applicant status \u2014 seeking accreditation).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis change allows us to more effectively coordinate our programs and resources while preparing for continued growth,\u201d said Dr. Elizabeth Palmarozzi, Vice President for the Division of Health Sciences. \u201cThe college structure aligns with best practices across higher education and healthcare and ensures our students are prepared to succeed in an evolving healthcare environment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Academic programs, faculty and support services will continue without interruption as the transition moves forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Division of Health Sciences encompasses a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs across nursing, kinesiology, sport science, health, clinical and human science disciplines.
