STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Tarleton State University\u2019s Department of Performing Arts presents a Musical Theatre Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30 in the Workshop Theater of the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center on the Stephenville campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event, which will feature performances of select Broadway classics by musical theatre majors, is the first of its kind to be produced at Tarleton State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat is due to an incoming freshman musical theatre cohort this fall,\u201d said John Greer, Visiting Professor of Dance and Theater. \u201cRecruitment has grown, enabling the theater department to produce the showcase.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cast of Madison Freeman,\u00a0<\/b>Carolina Williams,\u00a0<\/b>Maya Castellano,\u00a0<\/b>Charlie Jay,\u00a0<\/b>Apple Wright,\u00a0<\/b>Annie Tenhet,\u00a0<\/b>Meagan Neagle,\u00a0<\/b>Cassidy Cabrera,\u00a0<\/b>Izzy Webb,\u00a0<\/b>Charlie Palm, Maegan Neagle\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0<\/b>Jacob Anderson will open the show with \u201cThe New World\u201d from Jason Robert Brown\u2019s \u201cSongs from a New World.\u201d\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Williams, Jay, Wright, Castellano, Tenhet and Anderson team up on \u201cCoffee in a Cardboard Cup from \u201cAnd the World Goes Round,\u201d followed by \u201cDie Vampire Die,\u201d from \u201cTitle of Show\u201d performed by Freeman, Williams, Jay, Castellano, Tenhet and Cabrera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Next, Tehnet, Castellano, Neagle, Palm and Webb take to the stage with \u201cForget About the Boy,\u201d from \u201cThoroughly Modern Millie\u201d followed by \u201cThe Rainbow Connection\u201d from the \u201cMuppet Movie\u201d featuring Jay and Wright, and Freeman\u2019s performance of \u201cThe Wizard and I\u201d from \u201cWicked.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The entire cast returns for the finale, \u201cOn My Way\u201d from the musical \u201cViolet.\u201d\u00a0Greer is the director, choreographer and musical director for the show. Technical direction is overseen by Prudence Jones, and Dr. Daeun Kim is accompanist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
