STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 First-place finishes in bareback riding, bull riding and tie-down roping led Tarleton State University\u2019s men\u2019s rodeo team to its second straight win in last weekend\u2019s Cisco College Rodeo at the Taylor Telecom Arena in Abilene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Taylon Carmody posted a two-head 157 on scores of 80 and 77 to capture top bareback honors, Travis Staley\u2019s 7.7-8.1-15.8 was best in tie-down roping and bull rider Zane Monnett turned in an 81 in the long go-round to win the bull riding as the defending national champion men\u2019s team amassed 530 points for its second consecutive National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Lone Star Region victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Five Tarleton State saddle bronc riders wound up in the top six finishers in Abilene, with Coleman Shalbetter and Cauy Masters tying for second place with identical two-head 159 tallies. Montgomery Parsons\u2019 74-81.5-154.5 was fourth, Waitley Sharon took fifth with a combined 152.5 on scores of 77 and 75.5 and Zane Monnett\u2019s 73-77-150 was good for sixth in the average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Team roper Caden Tinsley and Angelo State\u2019s Trey Hughes posted runs of 6.6 and 10.5 for a third-place 17.1, bareback riders Daxtyn Field and Devon Moore were third and fourth scoring 71 and 70 in the long go and Brody Clemons\u2019 8.5-11.5-20 was good for fifth in tie-down roping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kaylie Garza and Faith Lundberg were second and third in goat tying in Abilene, pacing the Tarleton State women to a second-place finish just 25 points behind host Cisco College\u2019s 375 total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Garza flashed a 6.7-6.5-13.2 and Lundberg turned in a 7-6.3-13.3. Brooklyn Balch was seventh in the event, posting a 15.2 on runs of 6.9 and 8.3 seconds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Five Tarleton State barrel racers finished in the Cisco College Rodeo top ten. The group was led by Maci McDonald with a fourth-place 15.52-15.31-30.83 time. Carlee Sims\u2019 15.45-15.69-31.14 was sixth, Rylee Abel took seventh with her 15.57-15.6-31.17, Nicole Altieri was ninth with her two-run 36.09 that featured a team-best 15.28 in the long go-round and Lindsey Estes finished <\/sup>10th with a 15.52-25.69-41.21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Breakaway roper Cidney Estes finished second with her 4.5 total which featured a 2.2 in the finals.
