STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Jordan Driver flashed a two-run time of 28.08 seconds to win the barrel racing event and lead the Tarleton State University women\u2019s rodeo team to a first-place finish at the Western Texas College Rodeo in Snyder over the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Driver\u2019s time included a 13.96 clocking in the championship finals Saturday. Teammate Kaycee Thomas was sixth in the event with her 14.23-14.28-28.51 total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Breakaway roper Katy King was second, turning in a 2.0 in the preliminary round and adding a 2.1 in the finals for a 4.1 in the average. Tayler Felton\u2019s 2.0-3.3-5.3 was good for sixth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tarleton State goat tyers captured five of the event\u2019s top 10 slots, with Shyanne Bauerle taking third overall with a 13.9 two-head time, featuring runs of 6.7 and 7.2 seconds. Brooklyn Balch was fourth with a 6.9-7.3-14.2, Rylee Abel was fifth with her 7.2-7.1-14.3, a 6.5-7.9-14.4 from Tori Brower was sixth and Danielle Bussey finished eighth with a 16.8 that featured a 7.2 in the long go and a 9.6 in the finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tarleton State\u2019s men, led by saddle bronc rider Waitley Sharon\u2019s second-place 166.5, took fifth in Snyder, accumulating 240 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sharon\u2019s 82.5-84-166.5 led a group of four Tarleton State saddle bronc riders who wound up in the top ten in the average. Gus Gaillard took fourth with rides of 84.5 and 80 for a 164.5 fourth-place finish. Montgomery Parsons\u2019 80-81-161 was fifth and Bailey Small came in seventh with his 81-69-150.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bareback rider Taylon Carmody turned in an 82, tied for first in the long go, and added an 80 in the finals for his runner-up 162. Roedy Farrell was third in the event with his 80-75-155 and Devon Moore was seventh with a two-head 148 on rides of 70 and 78 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cole Drum and Enrique Munoz claimed fourth in team roping by posting a combined 17.2 time which featured a 5.4 in the preliminary round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both Tarleton State teams remain atop the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Southwest Region standings and will be on the road this weekend at the Howard College Rodeo in Big Spring.
