STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 The Tarleton State University Wellness Center officially changed its name to the University Health Center at the end of the fall 2024 semester to better reflect the specialized healthcare services offered to students on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are excited about the renaming of our on-campus student health clinic to the University Health Center (UHC),\u201d said Dr. Matthew Maruska, Chief Medical Officer. \u201cAt the UHC, we provide a wide range of high-quality healthcare services tailored specifically to the needs of students much like those services offered by a hometown doctor. In addition to no additional office visit fee, we are proud that our ancillary services, such as casting and laboratory testing, are offered at very affordable rates, ensuring access to care without the financial burden of traditional healthcare settings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBy choosing the UHC, students benefit from convenient, personalized care from medical professionals who understand the unique challenges of college life, empowering them to stay healthy and focus on their academic success.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to make access to quality healthcare available and affordable to students, the UHC has worked to offer as many services in house as possible. These services include splinting, casting, injections, treatment of minor illnesses and injuries, basic procedures like suturing and lesion removal, and consultations on various health concerns, including mental health referrals. The center now also provides on-site X-ray services at an additional cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with physical well-being, the UHC creates space for students to focus on their mental and emotional health. The Counseling Center, located in the UHC, provides comprehensive mental health and wellness support, offering individual counseling, group therapy, and brief interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the clinic engages the campus community through mental health training and education to foster student awareness and well-being, collaborative outreach to connect students with resources, and wellness workshops to promote healthy coping mechanisms and lifestyle choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UHC is located on the first floor of the Traditions North Residence Hall on North Rome Street and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
