STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Beginning with the Class of 2025, Galveston Independent School District seniors in the top 50 percent of their graduating class will earn automatic admission to Tarleton State University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of its Distinguished High School Partners program, Tarleton State also will waive application fees for students who qualify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Galveston ISD and Tarleton State leaders cemented the agreement in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPartnering with Galveston ISD ensures that some of the brightest students in Texas have the opportunity for a high-quality university experience,\u201d said Tarleton State President Dr. James Hurley. \u201cThis partnership aligns with our commitment to be a first-choice institution for high school seniors in Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President\u2019s Guaranteed Scholarship Program assures first-time-in-college students graduating in the top half of their high school class between $500 and $4,000 in scholarships. Students graduating from one of Tarleton State\u2019s Distinguished High School Partners will receive an additional $500 or $1,000. Admitted freshmen must submit a general scholarship application to determine eligibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe thank Tarleton State University for including us in this innovative partnership program,\u201d said Dr. Matthew Neighbors, Galveston ISD Superintendent, who credited Jennifer Edenfield, Director of Career and Technical Education, Advanced Academics, and College Career Military Readiness, for her work in securing the agreement on behalf of students and families. \u201cWe look forward to more students earning advanced credits by expanding their choices and opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
