STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Tarleton State University Professor Dr. Edward Osei has received a grant of $750,000 from the United States Department of Agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The grant is part of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture\u2019s Non-Land Grant Colleges of Agriculture Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project seeks to develop, analyze and synthesize data on economically viable manure byproducts that can be beneficial in a wide variety of situations including dairy, beef, poultry and hog operations. The byproducts will provide alternative income streams while mitigating environmental pressures that currently hinder these enterprises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am very thankful for REID and the grants office staff who are always so supportive of faculty on these applications,\u201d said Dr. Osei. \u201cTheir hard work helps make all this possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The proposed multidisciplinary integrated plan will build upon previous and ongoing efforts of Tarleton State faculty and staff. It will also enhance their ability to generate high-quality actionable research that will position the university to contribute to agricultural research needs while collaborating with major land-grant research institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Osei, Professor of Agricultural Business, will serve as primary investigator on a four-year project with Tarleton State as the lead institution.
