STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Tarleton State University\u2019s Jazz II and III ensembles will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13 in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Auditorium in Stephenville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Jazz II ensemble show, directed by Mark Scott, will focus on the music and the performance styles of the Duke Ellington Orchestra and the Count Basie Orchestra, with a heavy emphasis on the blues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wade Girton directs the Jazz III ensemble, which will perform music associated with the Count Basie Orchestra, music by Andrew Hill, an avant-garde composer and pianist associated with the Blue Note Records label, and, in the tradition of the Count Basie Old Testament Band, a blues piece collaboratively arranged on the spot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
