STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Tarleton State University is expanding its degree offerings on the Fort Worth campus with a new Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) degree in Communication Studies that launched this fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program is spearheaded by the College of Liberal and Fine Arts and will be offered by the Department of Communication Studies.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOffering workforce credit at the Fort Worth campus demonstrates that getting the BAAS in Communication Studies at Tarleton State is both practical and cutting edge,\u201d said Dr. Emran El-Badawi, Dean of the College of Liberal and Fine Arts. \u201cWe are proud to serve our students where they are, which is today increasingly in the workforce.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faculty have designed the curriculum for adult learners with previous communication work-related experience who want to finish their degree. It will be a hybrid program with both in-person and online offerings in Fort Worth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are really hopeful that offering this new program will help adult learners complete their degrees,\u201d said Dr. Christopher Gearhart, Head of the Department of Communication Studies. \u201cThis program is the result of much hard work by faculty and is meant to aid professionals wanting to reach their educational goals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students can earn up to 33 hours in prior learning credit. Credit may be accepted from a variety of professional areas, including: military coursework or trainings, professional certificates or licensures in public relations, social media or event management, communication-related continuing education (CE) credits, or any vocational-technical training or workforce education course manual (WECM) courses in hospitality or travel areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
