Gordon Museum and Research Center in Thurber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attendees to this edition will hear more about this neglected aspect of the Texas Revolution, some of the men and women people who applied, and what happened to the land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some veterans of the Texas Revolution received payment in land for their services fighting to create a new nation. Still, by 1879, many had become destitute or had widows who needed assistance. In response to this, Texas officials created the solution of granting them more land, but applicants had to go through a difficult process to receive it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Zoom link is available on request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The W. K. Gordon Museum and Research Center is located at 65258 Interstate 20, Exit 367, in Mingus and is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The combined museum and special collections library is located at the site of the Thurber ghost town.
