STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Tarleton State University will celebrate 125 Years of Excellence Sept. 3 with a commemorative ceremony followed by an anniversary celebration from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Barry B. Thompson Student Center Ballrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The public is invited to join in the family-friendly anniversary celebration festivities, which will feature inflatables, games, food trucks and cupcakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebration kicks off a season of activities honoring the history and cherished traditions of the university and its esteemed visionary, John Tarleton, who founded the institution in 1899. Upcoming events include the football home opener against McNeese State at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Family Weekend Sept. 27-28 and Homecoming Week Oct. 6-12. The anniversary celebration aligns with the first year of NCAA Division I championship eligibility as well as the 89th Texas Legislative Session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tarleton State has stood as a beacon of academic excellence and community engagement for 125 years, weaving a rich tapestry of tradition and innovation. Through its commitment to student success, research and service, the university continues to shape the future, honoring its past while embracing the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
