STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Dr. Kevin B. Johnson has been named Interim Dean of Tarleton State University\u2019s College of Science and Mathematics, effective Aug. 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A national search for a permanent dean is in progress.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since joining Tarleton State in 2023, Dr. Johnson has served as Associate Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics and as Director of the Timberlake Biological Research Station in Goldthwaite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDr. Johnson\u2019s leadership experience makes him a strong fit to serve in this capacity,\u201d said Dr. Diane Stearns, Tarleton State Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. \u201cWe appreciate his willingness to take on this new task and know his efforts will continue to positively impact our university moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Johnson earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in zoology from Brigham Young University and a doctorate in biology from the University of Oregon. In his previous role at Florida Tech, he served as a faculty member and as program chair for marine sciences and related programs in the Department of Ocean Engineering and Marine Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am especially excited and grateful to work with our excellent faculty to provide an outstanding experience for our undergraduate and graduate students.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
