K. Gordon Museum and Research Center and discover a different view of Thurber while learning more about how to find the hidden women in historical records at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tarleton State\u2019s Dr. Deborah Liles will present \u201cA Woman\u2019s Lot in Thurber\u201d as the first Tuesday Talk of the fall.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the event flyer: \u201cAs men toiled in the local mines and brickyard, a vital workforce of women labored in Thurber. They maintained homes, raised children, ran boarding houses, worked in company stores and offices, and created social organizations and activities to make life as bearable and entertaining as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Zoom link to attend is available on request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The W. K. Gordon Museum and Research Center is located at 65258 Interstate 20, Exit 367, in Mingus and is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The combined museum and special collections library is located at the site of the Thurber ghost town.
