STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Tarleton State University President Dr. James Hurley has been named treasurer for the Council of Public University Presidents and Chancellors (CPUPC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As treasurer-elect, his two-year term will begin Sept. 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The nonprofit council is comprised of the chief executive officers of the Texas public general academic universities, system offices, health-related institutions and the three two-year state colleges in the Houston area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CPUPC provides a forum to elevate the contributions and successes of Texas higher education institutions and helps to build collaborative networks for the discussion of mutual needs and concerns related to the challenges facing public universities in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am honored to be nominated and selected for this role,\u201d said Dr. Hurley. \u201cAdvancing the educational programs of all public colleges and universities in Texas is a collective effort. I look forward to continuing to work with leaders from all parts of our state for the greater good.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
