STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 The Tarleton State University men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams clinched spots in the upcoming College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) over the weekend with dominating wins at the Tarleton Stampede.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saddle bronc rider Bailey Small\u2019s two head 162 was good for the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Southwest Region event title and Hadley Tidwell\u2019s 31.31 time on two barrel racing runs, earned the regional reserve championship. Both will advance to the June 9-15 CNFR in Casper, Wyo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Small notched a pair of 80-point rides, including a finals-best 82, to win the Stephenville event. Teammates Lance Gaillard and Travis Handley took second and fifth with scores of 82-78\u2013160 and 73-78.5\u2013151.5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Clay Guthrie, Landris White and Cole Walker all finished in the steer wrestling top 10. Guthrie\u2019s 4.5-4.6\u20139.1 was good for second, White turned in a 4.2-5.4\u20139.6 for fourth, and Walker\u2019s 13.0 time came on runs of 4.9 and 8.1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bareback rider Roedy Farrell was seventh with his 77.5-61\u2013138.5, and Colter Ellis\u2019 two-head 19.2 was ninth in tie-down roping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tidwell\u2019s barrel racing crown came on cloverleaf runs of 15.74 and 15.57. Three other Tarleton state barrel racers earned spots in the finals \u2014 Acey Pinkston, third with a 15.66-15.7\u201331.36; Lindsey-Kay Reichert, fifth with her 15.97-15.78\u201331.75; and Emery Mask, 36.56 on runs of 15.73 and 20.83 for <\/sup>10th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tarleton State goat tyers accounted for five finals qualifiers as Keni Labrum finished fourth with a 6.3-6.1\u201312.4 effort, one spot ahead of Rayme Jones\u2019 6.0-6.6\u201312.6. Sixth place went to Emily McDeavitt, who posted a 5.8-7\u201312.8.
