STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 The Tarleton State University Jazz I ensemble will present the music of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn in \u201cLush Life\u201d at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Auditorium in Stephenville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The show will be presented in chronological order of the tunes\u2019 composition, beginning with \u201cEast St. Louis Toodle-Oo,\u201d written in 1926, and ending with 1970\u2019s \u201cPortrait of Louis Armstrong.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also featured are \u201cThe Mooche,\u201d \u201cEchoes of Harlem,\u201d \u201cLush Life,\u201d \u201cI Let a Song Go Out of My Heart,\u201d \u201cIn a Mellow Tone,\u201d \u201cKo-ko,\u201d \u201cConcerto for Cootie,\u201d \u201cCottontail,\u201d \u201cChelsea Bridge,\u201d \u201cRaincheck,\u201d \u201cCaravan,\u201d \u201cSatin Doll,\u201d \u201cIsfahan\u201d and \u201cIntimacy of the Blues.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tarleton State\u2019s own Dr. Heather Hawk will join the show as vocal soloist. Dr. William K. Ford directs the ensemble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
