{"id":50269,"date":"2024-02-27T13:07:32","date_gmt":"2024-02-27T19:07:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tarleton.edu\/news\/?p=50269"},"modified":"2024-02-27T13:07:33","modified_gmt":"2024-02-27T19:07:33","slug":"tea-commends-tarleton-state-educator-preparation-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tarleton.edu\/news\/tea-commends-tarleton-state-educator-preparation-program\/","title":{"rendered":"TEA Commends Tarleton State Educator Preparation Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has commended Tarleton State University\u2019s Educator Preparation Program (EPP) in two categories: Innovative Educator Preparation and Preparing the Educators Texas Needs in Career and Technical Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tarleton State is one of only two schools to receive the innovation commendation. This is the third consecutive year for the university\u2019s career and technical educator program to receive the TEA accolade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Chris Sloan, Interim Dean of the College of Education, credited Tarleton State\u2019s cutting-edge advancements in teacher preparation that ensure instructors are ready for the classroom on day one of their new career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat Tarleton\u2019s teacher preparation program has done in a matter of three years is to make the full transformation to the newly released Texas Education Agency\u2019s Educator Preparation Framework Model that has not yet been codified into the Texas Administrative Code,\u201d he said. \u201cIn partnering with US PREP and staying abreast of research-based best practices and statewide trends, the future of high-quality teacher preparation in the state of Texas has already been realized at Tarleton State University.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Innovation in Tarleton State\u2019s Educator Preparation Program includes transforming from a traditional unpaid, single-semester dual-classroom placement to a paid, year-long single-placement continuous co-teaching experience for 100 percent of the students in elementary, middle school and secondary pathways, Dr. Sloan said.
