{"id":49738,"date":"2023-10-18T14:59:57","date_gmt":"2023-10-18T19:59:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tarleton.edu\/news\/?p=49738"},"modified":"2023-10-18T15:00:01","modified_gmt":"2023-10-18T20:00:01","slug":"admission-scholarships-highlight-tarleton-needville-isd-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tarleton.edu\/news\/admission-scholarships-highlight-tarleton-needville-isd-agreement\/","title":{"rendered":"Admission, Scholarships Highlight Tarleton, Needville ISD Agreement\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Beginning with the Class of 2024, Needville Independent School District seniors in the top 50 percent of their graduating class will earn automatic admission to Tarleton State University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of its Distinguished High School Partners program, Tarleton also will waive ACT (American College Test) or SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) requirements for students in the top half of their class and application fees for students who qualify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Needville ISD and Tarleton leaders cemented the agreement Sept. 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPartnering with Needville ISD ensures that some of the best and brightest students in Texas have the opportunity for a high-quality university experience,\u201d said Tarleton President James Hurley. \u201cThis partnership aligns with our commitment to become a first-choice institution for high school seniors in Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tarleton is developing similar agreements with other school districts in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Needville Independent School District is excited to partner with Tarleton in providing a path for students to get a quality education beyond high school,\u201d said Needville Superintendent Curtis Rhodes. \u201cOur goal is to prepare students for their future and not our past, and working with an outstanding university like Tarleton validates that purpose. We\u2019re improving our community, state, nation and world one child at a time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The President\u2019s Guaranteed Scholarship Program assures first-time-in-college students graduating in the top half of their high school class between $500 and $4,000 in scholarships. Students graduating from one of Tarleton\u2019s Distinguished High School Partners will receive an additional $500 or $1,000.
