Pictured, from left, are Dr. Rachael Capua, Tarleton State Vice President for External Operations; Tarleton State President Dr. James Hurley; McLennan Community College President Dr. Johnette McKown; and Dr. Fred Hills, MCC Vice President for Instruction and Student Engagement.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of its Dual Admissions Transfer Pathway, Tarleton State University will simultaneously accept first-time McLennan Community College students who plan to complete their associate degree at MCC and then transfer to Tarleton to earn a bachelor\u2019s. Tarleton will hold tuition the same as when the students opt in as well as offer specialized programming, supports and access to events such as athletics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A member of MCC\u2019s University Center in Waco for almost 25 years, Tarleton State offers 30 undergraduate, graduate and certificate opportunities, with more expected for fall 2024.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMore than promoting access to enrollment, MCC-to-Tarleton fosters access to completion,\u201d said Tarleton State President James Hurley. \u201cFinishing a university degree is critical to improved quality of life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recent Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board reports show the graduation rate topping 66 percent for two-year-college students who transfer to Tarleton State with 30 or more credit hours. Only four other Texas universities score higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited about the opportunities this co-admission program brings for our students and our community,\u201d said MCC&nbsp;President Johnette McKown.&nbsp;\u201cThe state\u2019s&nbsp;<em>60x30TX&nbsp;<\/em>higher education<em>&nbsp;<\/em>plan wants 60 percent of the 25- to 34-year-old Texas population to hold a certificate or degree by 2030.&nbsp;MCC-to-Tarleton is a vital component of our response to that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur partnership with Tarleton State enables all parties to accomplish more than we could alone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tarleton had barely 30 students at MCC\u2019s University Center that first year. Today it\u2019s 800, with more than 4,500 graduates over the nearly 25-year collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Hurley: \u201cWe\u2019re turning Central Texas into a hub for educational opportunity.
