STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 History Happy Hour is back at Tarleton State University\u2019s W. K. Gordon Museum and Research Center in Thurber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Visit the museum and sample some of the Amber Dragon\u2019s best mead at 6 p.m. Sept. 30 while learning more about the history of Thurber, Texas. While visiting the museum speak with the owners of Amber Dragon Meadery and learn more about how mead is made. Tickets are $20, and the glass goes home with you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mead, also known as honey wine, dates to antiquity and, like wine, has circled the globe. Texas has a dozen meaderies, however, there are only a few in short driving distance of Stephenville. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gordon Museum and Research Center is at 65258 Interstate 20, Exit 367, in Mingus and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays and 1-4 p.m. Sundays. The combined museum and special collections library is located at the site of the Thurber ghost town.
