STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Beginning with the Class of 2023, Richardson Independent School District seniors in the top 50 percent of their graduating class earn automatic admission to Tarleton State University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of its Distinguished High School Partners program, Tarleton also waives ACT (American College Test) or SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) requirements for students in the top half of their class and application fees for students who qualify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Richardson ISD and Tarleton leaders cemented the agreement in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re very excited to partner with the Richardson ISD to ensure that some of the best and brightest students in Texas have the opportunity for a high-quality university experience,\u201d said Tarleton President James Hurley. \u201cThis partnership aligns with our commitment to be a first-choice institution for high school seniors in Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tarleton is developing similar agreements with other school districts in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are excited about this partnership with Tarleton State University,\u201d said Richardson ISD Superintendent Tabitha Branum. \u201cEnhanced scholarships through the President\u2019s Guaranteed Scholarship Program, individual student support from Tarleton to ensure student success, and a dedicated P-16 relations coordinator are additional key benefits for our graduates. This partnership represents an excellent opportunity for RISD students seeking an outstanding option to further their academic success.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President\u2019s Guaranteed Scholarship Program assures first-time-in-college students graduating in the top half of their high school class between $500 and $4,000 in scholarships. Students graduating from one of Tarleton\u2019s Distinguished High School Partners will receive an additional $500 or $1,000. Admitted freshmen must submit a general scholarship application to determine eligibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
