STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 <\/em>Tarleton State University has named Dr. Alex del Carmen the 2023 McKenzie Family Endowed Professor. Candidates exemplify the highest levels of academic productivity and impact, with recognition at national and international levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associate Dean of the College of Liberal and Fine Arts, Dr. del Carmen leads the School of Criminology, Criminal Justice and Public Administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDr. del Carmen is a productive and highly respected scholar in criminology and criminal justice who provides training and consultation to state, federal and international law enforcement, and interpretation and analysis to local and national media outlets,\u201d said Dr. Diane Stearns, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. \u201cAlong with his influential scholarship, he was instrumental in launching our doctoral program in criminal justice and has served as an experienced and engaged mentor for our students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The endowed professorship was established in 2020 by Tarleton alumnus Mark McKenzie and his wife, Suzie. Endowed professorships are crucial to the university\u2019s research efforts, funding discovery, travel and salaries for student workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am truly honored to be the recipient of the McKenzie Family Endowed Professorship. This will strengthen our ability to carry out current research projects on policing,\u201d Dr. del Carmen said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
