STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014Duo Mundi George and Guli \u2014 George Lopez and Gulimina Mahamuti \u2014 will perform in a two-piano concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Auditorium hosted by the Tarleton State University Department of Fine Arts. Admission is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since 2018 the pianists have thrilled U.S. audiences with an innovative and diverse programming style that engages both the eye and the ear. They have been lauded as \u201cbreathing the same artistic air\u201d with an intimacy of communication appealing to audiences of every generation. Lopez, the Bowdoin College Robert Beckwith Artist in Residence, has been a performer and educator for 30 years. The pair gave a standing room only performance of Bernstein\u2019s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story<\/em> at their debut concert in Bowdoin College\u2019s Studzinski Hall and recently performed on tour in Ohio for the Western Reserve MTA in Columbus and at the University of Akron. Their upcoming schedule features concerts in Boston, Kansas, Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Texas, Mexico and Portugal.

Mahamuti, the first Uyghur from China to receive a doctorate of musical arts in piano performance in the U.S., debuted major works at Carnegie Hall and has performed internationally in Montreal, Copenhagen, Istanbul, Budapest and across the U.S. and China. She performed piano concerti with the Southeast Kansas Symphony Orchestra, Mansfield Symphony Orchestra and Harbin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, and was featured on the radio in San Francisco, Queens College\/CUNY podcast, China Touch Radio and Istanbul Technical University Radio. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
