STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 <\/em>Area history buffs are invited to Tarleton State University\u2019s W.K. Gordon Museum at 6 p.m. Friday, March 31, to sample spirits from Sledge Distillery and learn about the history of Thurber, Texas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tickets are $15 and your empty glass goes home with you. Tickets can be purchased through the W.K. Gordon Museum\u2019s online museum store \u2014 tarleton.edu\/gordoncenter<\/a>. Advanced ticket purchase is requested. For assistance please call 254-968-1886.

The W.K. Gordon Museum and Research Center\u2019s main gallery tells the story of Thurber, a company-owned coal mining and brick making town owned and operated by the Texas & Pacific Coal and Oil Co. from 1886 to 1936. The museum is at 65258 Interstate 20, Exit 367, in Mingus and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1-4 p.m. Sundays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
