STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Twenty-two high-achieving Tarleton State University students \u2014 Erica Beldin, Mia Childers, Bianca Gaucin, Julia Forbes, Cole Taylor, Dani DeFur, Ashley Carter, Emily Halleck, Savanna Wood, Breanna Shackleford, Kylan Mills, Kiara Owen, Sally Love, Jessica Whisenant, Blair Phillips, Esmae Velsen, Lauren Dill, Hannah Ison, Jordan Marlett, Serena Dawkins, Halani Harber and Lara Riggs \u2014 were inducted into the Order of Omega in a ceremony recently hosted by the Center for Leadership, Service and Outreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Order of Omega is a leadership honor society that recognizes outstanding members of the Greek community who embody the organization\u2019s four pillars of character, leadership, scholarship and service. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am delighted to see students who understand the importance of being involved with a community such as Greek Life and are able to receive recognition for their academic achievement,\u201d said Darrell Brown, Student Engagement and Success Executive Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organization aims to form a network of current members, faculty and alumni to strengthen the Greek community, the university and the Stephenville area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Members are selected from the top 3 percent of Greeks at an institution. Order of Omega has more than 500 chapters in the United States and Canada, and over 200,000 members. Tarleton\u2019s chapter was founded in fall 1987 and has 272 members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be considered for induction, full-time junior or senior students must have a Greek affiliation and a GPA of at least 3.0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tarleton Fraternity and Sorority Life consists of 17 national organizations currently with 1,000-plus members who represent the university in various leadership and service opportunities on and off campus. Fraternity and Sorority Life is under the Division of Student Engagement and Success.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
