STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Four Tarleton students this month are attending the PRSA 2022 International Conference in Grapevine, the first time in 30 years that the conference has been in Fort Worth-Dallas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference runs Nov. 13-15 and will celebrate the Public Relations Society of America\u2019s 75th<\/sup> anniversary. It features thought leaders \u2014 actress Marlee Matlin, Amazon Managing Director John Quintas , NFL legend Emmitt Smith \u2014 plus an array of breakout sessions and networking opportunities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Executive board members of Tarleton\u2019s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America \u2014 President Maddie Riggs, Vice President Lauryn Hammond, Secretary Kelsey Kizer and PR Director Kiley Kocian \u2014 will be there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI can\u2019t wait to meet other student chapters from all over the country and exchange ideas on experiential learning,\u201d Kizer said. \u201cThis is going to be so helpful for our careers.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faculty advisor and communication studies Associate Professor Liza Benedict, EdD, also will attend the conference. She said she appreciates Tarleton\u2019s support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur college dean, Dr. Eric Morrow, approved the travel request, and our department head, Dr. Chris Gearhart, has been extremely helpful in promoting the group\u2019s recruitment and participation efforts.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PRSSA at Tarleton is a growing student chapter in the Department of Communication Studies in the College of Liberal and Fine Arts. Founded in 1967, PRSSA is the foremost organization for students interested in public relations and communications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It advocates rigorous academic standards for public relations education and the highest ethical principles and diversity in the profession. It has more than 10,000 students and advisers in nearly 375 chapters globally.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
