STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Tarleton State University\u2019s women\u2019s rodeo team captured first place at the annual Vernon College Rodeo last weekend, its third consecutive title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shyanne Bauerle, one of four Tarleton goat tying competitors in the finals, paced the effort, winning the event championship with a two-head 13.3 time, including a rodeo-best 6.2 in the finals. Teammate Keni Labrum was third with her 13.7, and Courtney Stalvey and Mary Risse each posted 13.9s to split fourth place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Barrel racers Jordan Driver and Rylan Heller finished second and sixth at Vernon. Jordan ran the cloverleaf in 17.26 for first in the long go, then added a 17.33 in the finals for runner-up honors in the average. Rylan\u2019s 34.79 total included a 17.26, good for third in the championship round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Breakaway roper Morgan McDeavitt took sixth with her 2.7-3.7\u20146.4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tarleton\u2019s men took second place for the second week in a row, this time behind a first-place 12.0 from team ropers Wyatt Bray and Weatherford College cowboy Cutter Thomlinson. The first-round 5.6 put the pair atop the leaderboard heading into the finals, where they turned in a 6.4, third in the round, for the event title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bull rider Jacob Carige added a second with an 81 for runner-up in the long go and in the average. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Korbin Rice partnered with Cisco roper Cooper Freeman for second in that event with a combined 12.3, including a finals-best 5.6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tarleton\u2019s team effort included third-place finishes from bareback rider Kade Berry and tie-down roper Wyatt Crandall. Kade posted a 75 first-round score, tied for second, then added a 72 for a two-ride 147. Wyatt flashed a pair of sub-10 times for an average tally of 19.7<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saddle bronc rider Gus Gaillard earned an 81 in the finals for a fifth-place 156, and teammate Cleveland Griffin took seventh with a 152, which featured an 81-point ride in the long go. Brody Wells was second in the first round with an 82.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Landris White claimed fifth in steer roping with his two-run 10.1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
