STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Beginning with the Class of 2023, Tarleton State University will provide annual scholarships and guarantee admission to select Judson Independent School District high school seniors. JISD and Tarleton leaders finalized the agreement recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the Distinguished High School Partnership, Tarleton will waive ACT (American College Test) or SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) requirements for students in the top 50 percent of their class and application fees for students who demonstrate financial need. The university will offer scholarships of at least $1,000 each year to Judson\u2019s top graduates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur reputation for student focus is growing,\u201d said Tarleton President James Hurley. \u201cWith that comes our ability to attract high school seniors who want more than classroom knowledge. They want know-how. This collaboration aligns with our mission to provide a high-quality experience to students from across the region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tarleton is developing similar agreements with school districts in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am truly excited for Judson ISD and Tarleton to enter into this memorandum of understanding,\u201d said Dr. Jeanette Ball, Judson superintendent. \u201cHaving this automatic acceptance creates a unique and special opportunity for our students that I am proud to be a part of. This is the beginning of great things to come, and I look forward to working with Tarleton staff to promote higher education to our students and families.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President\u2019s Guaranteed Scholarship Program assures first-time-in-college students graduating in the top half of their high school class between $500 and $4,000 in scholarships. Students graduating from one of Tarleton\u2019s Distinguished High School Partners will receive an additional $500 or $1,000. Admitted freshmen must submit a general scholarship application to determine eligibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
