STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 American baritone Christopher Jordan and pianist Cindy St. Clair will perform \u201cSongs of the Soul: A recital of Music by Black Composers\u201d at Tarleton State University\u2019s Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3. Admission is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jordan has performed several leading lyric baritone roles, including the title role in\u00a0Don Giovanni<\/em>, John Sorel in\u00a0The Consul<\/em>\u00a0and Peter in\u00a0Hansel and Gretel<\/em>,\u00a0<\/em>along with light opera roles in\u00a0The Mikado<\/em>\u00a0(Pooh-bah),\u00a0Patience<\/em>\u00a0(Reginald Bunthorne), the title role in\u00a0Paul Bunyan<\/em>\u00a0and as Captain Corcoran in\u00a0H.M.S. Pinafore<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He performed the roles of Barone Douphol in\u00a0La Traviata\u00a0<\/em>with Opera Birminghamand Moral\u00e8s in\u00a0Carmen\u00a0<\/em>with the Natchez Opera Festival.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has been heard on stage with Teatro Lirico d\u2019Europa, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra of Bulgaria and the Gold Coast Opera of South Florida in productions of Tosca <\/em>and Carmen<\/em>.A highlight of his career was premiering the role of Jordan in Over Dinner<\/em>, a new opera by American composer Amir Zaheri with the University of Alabama Opera Theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

St. Clair has appeared throughout the United States and Europe as a soloist and collaborator, including performances at the Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria. She has been a featured soloist with the Huxford Symphony Orchestra, the University of Alabama Symphonic Band and the Samford University Orchestra. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
