The Texas General Land Office-Community Development and Revitalization (GLO-CDR) has awarded a contract to place four Tarleton graduate students and two undergraduates in an internship program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis partnership is a win-win for our Tarleton students and GLO-CDR,\u201d said Dr. Rupa Iyer, Tarleton Vice President for Research, Innovation and Economic Development. \u201cThrough this opportunity, our students will work alongside GLO-CDR leadership and gain valuable workforce skills.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tarleton, UT Austin and Texas A&M are the only universities to get the award. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The internship will provide students with skills and training in accounting, economics, policy development, planning, geographic information system mapping, environmental services and working in a large state agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Texas General Land Office is proud to partner with Tarleton State University to expand our internship program,\u201d said Jet Hays, Deputy Director for Integration, Community Development and Revitalization for the Texas General Land Office. \u201cThis program is not the usual internship, as participants are given the opportunity to assist in the management of disaster recovery programs directly benefitting survivors and mitigation projects to limit the damage resulting from future events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re looking for people motivated by the desire to help their fellow Texans and interested in gaining experience in grant management, study management, data services and urban\/rural planning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
