STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Tarleton State University, the city of Stephenville and Erath County invite the community to a ceremony on the 21st anniversary of 9-11 to commemorate the nation\u2019s loss and resilience following terrorist attacks that took the lives of nearly 3,000 Americans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event takes place at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center. Admission is free. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tarleton President James Hurley and the first family will open the ceremony, and Stephenville Chief of Police Dan Harris will keynote.
\u201cEach September 11 is a time to remember that life is a gift and that true community is being connected to something greater than ourselves,\u201d Dr. Hurley said. \u201cOur continued remembrance is a reminder of the sacrifice and the enduring legacy of those who lost their lives that day and the vigilance required to keep our nation safe.\u201d
The Stephenville Fire Department and Tarleton Corps of Cadets will post colors, and the Texan Troubadours, under the direction of Dr. Troy Robertson, will perform.
