STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 It\u2019s a tough time to be a first responder in Texas. Extreme heat and wildfires present perilous challenges almost daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tarleton State University\u2019s W.K. Gordon Museum and Research Center for Industrial History of Texas would like these brave folks to visit as honored guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Starting immediately and lasting through August, first responders and their families will have free admission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The W.K. Gordon Museum and Research Center\u2019s main gallery tells the story of Thurber (1886- 1940) in Erath County, now a ghost town but once a coal mining and brick making city owned and operated by the Texas Pacific Coal and Oil Co.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The center, at 65258 Interstate 20, Exit 36, in Mingus, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1-4 p.m. Sundays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
