STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 Two engineering technology students from Tarleton State University took third place in the bridge competition at the recent Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) 2022 conference in Charlotte, NC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jose Gonzalez and Rudy Rodriguez finished third in the sandwich beam category, beating teams from UT Knoxville, McGill, UCLA and the University of Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bridges had to be at least 24 inches long and no more than four inches wide or deep. Each team provided a poster describing its design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two current and two former Tarleton engineering technology students won the SAMPE International University Leadership Experience Award in 2020. Taylor Parillo, Mackenzie Maxwell, Meredith Graber and Nathan Wall won in 2020, but the pandemic stalled the SAMPE conferences until this year. Parillo, Maxwell and Graber attended the \u201922 event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
