STEPHENVILLE, Texas \u2014 The Tarleton State University Wind Ensemble will feature a performance of \u201cPopcopy,\u201d a piece composed by Scott McAllister based on \u201990s pop culture, in the \u201cMore Cowbell\u201d concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, in the auditorium of the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center in Stephenville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tickets are $5, or free with a Tarleton ID. The box office will open at 6:30, and seating is general admission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The concert also will be live-streamed on the Tarleton Fine Arts YouTube channel and will revolve around pop culture references of the time, like the \u201cMore Cowbell\u201d skit from \u201cSaturday Night Live,\u201d the movie American Pie and \u201cSeinfeld,\u201d along with Concerto for Horn by British composer Gordon Jacob.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tarleton horn Professor Dr. Kim Hagelstein will be guest soloist. Dr. Hagelstein holds degrees from the University of Missouri and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other selections include \u201cSensus Vitae\u201d by Nathan Daughtrey, \u201cDivertimento for Band\u201d by Vincent Perschetti and Kevin Day\u2019s \u201cDancing Fire.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The concert, with guest conductor Dr. Gary Westbrook, Associate Director of Bands, is presented in preparation for the Wind Ensemble\u2019s invited performance at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention on Feb. 10, 2022, in San Antonio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
