Tarleton Students Present Research<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas\u2014Five Tarleton State University students presented papers this month at the North Central Texas Phi Alpha Theta Conference in Fort Worth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phi Alpha Theta is an American honor society for undergraduate and graduate students and professors of history. Tarleton\u2019s chapter, Alpha Beta Chi, was established in 1985.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tarleton history professors Christopher Hickman, Mattie Fitch and Michael Landis helped students prepare their papers and served as commentators and moderators for the regional conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student presenters were:
\u2022 Sara Brown, \u201cThe Small Town Museum: Promotion, Provocation and Survival;\u201d
\u2022 Amy Gaudette, \u201cThe Woman in the White House: The Life of Grace Halsell and Her Experiences on President Lyndon Johnson\u2019s Staff;\u201d
\u2022 Matt Killingsworth, \u201cThe Historical Memory of the Tower Shooting;\u201d
\u2022 Michelle Loyd, \u201cMoguls on Trial: The September 1941 Investigations of Hollywood;\u201d and
\u2022 Cory McCray, \u201cHenry Clay, the Whig Party and the Complications of Compromise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
