Fast-Paced Action at Lone Star Arena<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas\u2014Area rodeo fans can enjoy three days of fast-paced action, April 21-23, when the 51st annual Tarleton Stampede comes to Lone Star Arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event serves as the season finale for the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association\u2019s (NIRA) Southwest Region, and determines which cowboys and cowgirls earn a trip to the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) slated for June 12-18 in Casper, Wyo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sixteen colleges from across the region will compete in nine events: bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, team roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, breakaway roping and goat tying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Award-winning announcer Ben Clements returns, and Mitch Terrell\u2019s TNT Rodeo Co. serves as stock contractor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tarleton men\u2019s team currently leads the Southwest Region, with the women in third place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The men\u2019s team has 3,843.33 points over Western Texas College (2,505) heading into this weekend\u2019s NIRA Southwest Region finale, while the women look to overtake Eastern New Mexico (1,464.99) for the second-place position and a chance to qualify for this year\u2019s CNFR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Performances take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with the rodeo slack slated for 8:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Admission is $10 per day for adults. Children under 10 are admitted free. Tickets may be purchased at the gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
