Earth Day Tree Donation<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas\u2014In observance of Earth Day, three new oak trees were planted on the campus of Tarleton State University thanks to a contribution from Keep Stephenville Beautiful (KSB), a local non-profit organization dedicated to improving and beautifying the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trees\u2014a Live Oak, Burr Oak and Red Oak\u2014were planted April 25, marking the observance of Earth Day 2016 and replacing established trees lost on campus during the March 8 tornado. Tarleton representatives and KSB board members attended the tree planting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two trees were planted near the intersection of McIlhaney Street and Nancy Golden Drive, adjacent to Hunewell Annex, while a third was planted along Tarleton Street at the Tarleton Alumni Association\u2019s headquarters, which also lost a large tree in last month\u2019s storm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKeep Stephenville Beautiful is very excited to have the opportunity to plant these trees on the Tarleton campus as a part of Earth Day,\u201d said Daron Trussell, KSB board president. \u201cIt is always great to be able to give back to our community partners, and we\u2019re especially proud to be able to replace trees on the campus after the tornado in early March.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent years, Tarleton, in cooperation with KSB and the city of Stephenville, have partnered for the annual Tarleton Round Up, a student-led service day that enables university students, faculty, staff and community members to work together in a collaborative effort to assist local residents with a myriad of projects, such as raking leaves and other household chores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
