Trained volunteers use a research-based curriculum called Family-to-Family to provide free education and support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to have Dr. Horn-Johnson take on this new role on our board and are confident she will be a great asset as we move forward in our mission to raise awareness of mental health in our community,\u201d said Cynthia Cunningham, executive director of NAMI Waco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) supervisor, Horn-Johnson joined Tarleton-Waco in 2012 as an instructor and advisor. In addition to serving as program manager for Tarleton-Waco\u2019s social work program, she is responsible for recruitment, social media and outreach events. She is a member of the Prosper Waco Health Steering Committee, the Women\u2019s Health Committee and the Mental Health Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Horn-Johnson has a bachelor\u2019s degree in psychology, communications and women\u2019s studies and a master\u2019s in social work with a clinical concentration from the University of Pittsburgh. She recently earned a doctorate of social work from Capella University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m honored to serve NAMI Waco and the local community,\u201d she said. \u201cI am passionate about the work of NAMI and look forward to providing leadership to the NAMI board of directors through continued networking and connection-building with colleagues and agency contacts in Waco and surrounding areas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tarleton, a member of The Texas A&amp;M University System, provides a student-focused, value-driven educational experience marked by academic innovation and exemplary service, and dedicated to transforming students into tomorrow\u2019s professional leaders.
