STEPHENVILLE, Texas\u2014Take a break from back-to-school preparations Saturday, Aug. 20, when Tarleton State University\u2019s W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas hosts Night at the Opera House, featuring Treasure Island<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 1934 classic\u2014based on the work of Robert Louis Stevenson\u2014stars Jackie Cooper and Lionel Barrymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The free swashbuckling adventure starts at 6:30 p.m., with free snacks at intermission. Seating is limited and reservations are requested. To reserve seats, call 254-968-1886 or email gordoncenter@tarleton.edu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The W.K. Gordon Center, a Tarleton museum and research facility located in the historic ghost town of Thurber, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.
