New Fashion Design Minor<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEPHENVILLE\u2014Tarleton State University adds a new minor program in fashion studies to its 2016 fall semester lineup, providing opportunities for students to create their own design portfolio and expand career choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Open to all students regardless of their major degree plan, the 18-hour minor includes classes on fabric fundamentals and apparel development as well as an overview of the fashion industry and fashion history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFashion studies fosters creativity and complements many major degree programs,\u201d said Dr. Karol Blaylock, associate professor in Tarleton\u2019s Department of Fine Arts. \u201cA minor in fashion studies coupled with almost any major opens doors to career opportunities that many students never consider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMath and business majors can expand their career opportunities to include retail buying and merchandising management; communications students can become fashion journalists, and there\u2019s always room in the industry for marketing and product development,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
