The Fingerless Fiddler<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas\u2014Kick off your holiday festivities Saturday, Dec. 10, as Tarleton State University\u2019s W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas hosts Roy Thackerson\u2014The Fingerless Fiddler<\/em>\u2014and his band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The free music program begins at 6:30 p.m. at the museum in the historic ghost town of Thurber. Free refreshments will be served.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A favorite of the Grand Ole Opry, Thackerson lost the fingers on his left hand and the sight of his left eye at age 6 to a dynamite cap explosion. Because of this childhood injuries, he uses what he calls a \u201cgut strap\u201d to hold up his fiddle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to being a guest of the late Roy Acuff\u2014the king of country music\u2014on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, Thackerson has performed on the Ralph Emory Show<\/em> as well as with the late Box Car Willie in Branson, Mo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
