2016 Elections Impact Panelists<\/p>\n

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Five Tarleton State University professors will share insights on the 2016 elections and their impact on the school and the nation during a panel discussion set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Theater.<\/p>\n

The discussion is part of Tarleton’s 2017 centennial celebration as a founding member of The Texas A&M University System. There is no charge.<\/p>\n

Panelists and their topics for discussion are:
• Dr. Jensen Branscombe<\/strong>, assistant professor of social sciences – immigration and LGBTQ rights;
• Dr. Ann Calahan<\/strong>, professor of curriculum and instruction – education;
• Dr. Malcolm Cross<\/strong>, professor of social sciences – political parties;
• Dr. Ebony Hall<\/strong>, assistant professor of social work – race and diversity; and
• Dr. Jesus Velasco<\/strong>, associate professor of social sciences – international outlook.<\/p>\n

Dr. Michael Landis, assistant professor of social sciences at Tarleton, will moderate.<\/p>\n

“The 2016 elections likely will be the most important in our nation’s history,” Landis said, “not only for Hillary Clinton’s historic nomination and the unprecedented nature of Trump’s candidacy and victory, but also for the critical role played by ‘fake news’ and the Russian government. To fully understand and appreciate the magnitude of these events, we must consult with experts from a variety of fields. The Jan. 26 event at Tarleton will do just that.”<\/p>\n
